Our laboratory focuses on uncovering host-microbial interactions that can impact adolescent brain development as well as adult vulnerability to develop addiction and substance use disorders. To this end, we use a multidisciplinary approach that includes the use of behavioral animal models, pharmacology, and microbiology strategies with the main goal of identifying molecular mechanisms and signaling molecules involved in interkingdom communication.
