My passion is the intersection of health and social justice. For the past 15 years, my research, teaching and advocacy work has largely focused on the role of stigma and bias in social determinant, LGBTQ+ health and substance use disparities. I have primarily explored individual, community and systems level interventions to create affirming and inclusive clinical environments to improve access to and utilization of primary care. In preparation for possible FDA approval of MDMA and psilocybin for mental health and addiction treatment, my current project is examining nurses’ knowledge about and attitudes towards psychedelic drug use.
