SUMMARY:OBAT Navigator Training
DESCRIPTION:Office-based addiction treatment (OBAT) navigators play a critical role in the expansion of medications for addiction treatment (MAT) services in New Jersey. Under the New Jersey MATrx model\, OBAT navigators are integral team members in OBAT practices who are tasked with initiating and maintaining a psychosocial treatment plan (care plan) that supports patients through all phases of their treatment. \nHosted by the Camden Coalition\, this training series of six webinars focuses on foundational knowledge and actionable information for OBAT navigators such as: \n\nIntroduction to substance use disorders\, harm reduction\, trauma-informed care\, and the OBAT model\nApproaches for building relationships and putting harm reduction\, trauma-informed care\, and care-planning into practice in a clinic-based setting\nBest practices in connecting patients to behavioral health and social service resources including specific community resource identification and referral tools\n\nThe training series is free for OBAT navigators and providers/clinical support staff. If you are not an OBAT navigator or a provider but are interested in participating in the training\, please contact us. Please also note that participants are required to attend all 6 sessions in order to receive a Certificate of Completion. DESCRIPTION:When you think of poisons in the home\, household cleaners\, antifreeze\, and laundry detergent probably come immediately to mind. In fact\, the list of toxic substances in the home is much wider. Poisons can include medications taken incorrectly\, as well as recreational drugs/alcohol\, environmental hazards\, and even improperly handled food like meat or seafood. Individuals with I/DD necessitate special considerations to stay safe in the family homes\, a group home\, or while in the homes of others. \nJoin us for a conversation with Eward Greene\, Health Educator from the NJ Poison Center (NJPIES)\, about potential hazards\, proactive poison prevention methods\, and who to call for help.

DESCRIPTION:What do democracy and power have to do with health and health equity? And what role can public health play in promoting inclusive democratic practices? \nJeanne Ayers\, R.N.\, M.P.H.\, Executive Director of Healthy Democracy Health People will answer these questions\, along with addressing conceptual frameworks and practices aimed at improving the health of people in our democracy and the health of democracy itself. \nHealthy Democracy Healthy People (HDHP\,) a coalition of major public health and civic engagement groups working to ensure access to the ballot for all eligible voters and will serve as an introduction to the Health & Democracy Index. The Index is designed to provide a shared health equity analysis of voting policies and serve as a tool to strengthen civic and voter participation. Finally\, strategies and tools to promote inclusive democratic practices in public health practice will be shared.
