SUMMARY:SSW Webinar: The Win Win: Addressing Tobacco Use for People with Behavioral Health Conditions
DESCRIPTION:Tobacco use remains a leading cause of preventable death\, disproportionately impacting individuals with behavioral health conditions. This interactive\, solutions-focused session will explore the intersection of commercial tobacco use and behavioral health\, equipping participants with the knowledge and tools to drive meaningful change. \nThrough engaging discussions and practical strategies\, participants will critically analyze the social norms and systemic factors that sustain tobacco-related health disparities. The session will provide a comprehensive overview of FDA-approved medications for tobacco use treatment\, including nicotine replacement therapies (NRT)\, varenicline\, and bupropion\, along with best practices for their effective use. \nAdditionally\, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the stages of change in tobacco use treatment and how to implement stage-specific interventions to support individuals throughout their quit journey. By integrating these evidence-based approaches\, behavioral health professionals can enhance health outcomes and improve the well-being of the communities they serve creating a true win-win scenario. \nFor more information\, click here.
