SUMMARY:NJ ACTS Special Populations Seminar with Dr. Daniel Myran: "Changes in Healthcare Visits Due to Cannabis Use Following Legalization of Non-medical Cannabis in Canada"
DESCRIPTION:An increasing number of countries and US states have legalized or are considering the legalization of cannabis for non-medical use. A major concern is that legalization could increase cannabis use and associated harms. This presentation will review studies tracking changes in healthcare visits due to cannabis in children and adults following non-medical cannabis legalization in Canada. \nDr. Daniel Myran is a clinician-scientist and assistant professor with the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Ottawa. He is an associate scientist at ICES\, where his research program focuses on using natural experiments combined with linked health administrative data to better understand the impacts of public policy on mental health and substance use healthcare visits and outcomes. He practices family medicine with an interest in addiction medicine. \nRegister to receive the Zoom link: click here! \n
